My Therapeutic Approach
My education and training as a creative arts and drama therapist guide my psychodynamic, relational, holistic and feminist approaches to care. During our work together we explore the wholeness of your identity in the context of our culture including the influence of community, and social, economic, and political systems on your sense of self and how you navigate the world.
We may talk about your upbringing and early experiences and how these contribute to existing challenges in self-worth, thinking and behavior patterns. Understanding patterns that helped you cope in the past supports your ability to make positive changes in your life and relationships now. And your unique cultural identity illuminates all aspects of your lived experience and your therapeutic goals.
My Values
My core values and beliefs reflect the foundations of my therapy practice. Understanding where I stand offers us greater potential for positive alignment in our work together.
I am dedicated to helping you feel at home in your physical body, develop self-compassion and to increase life satisfaction and fulfillment.
I Believe
You are whole, resourceful and wise.
You are the expert on your body, mind and soul.
You are free to express all the complex parts of yourself without apology.
Your identities including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, size, ability, religion/spirituality, social class, nationality and where you live inform your experiences, challenges, aspirations and goals.
Inclusion through learning, ongoing self reflection, action, and engaging with equitable communities enriches our humanity, honors our freedoms and creates a more just world.
Healing is a process of nurturing self-compassion and reclaiming enjoyment and creativity.
